Rocketman had co-workers at his plant most of the week from the States and we offered to take them around Seoul on Saturday. They didn't have anything in particular in mind to do so we gave them some suggestions like Dr. Fish. We hadn't been to Dr. Fish since 2008 when it was new and very popular. If you don't know what it is, it's a fish pedicure. You can go here to see our first visit.
We arrived to find the place pretty empty. We ordered our coffees and Dr. Fish which is still only 2000 WON ($1.80 USD). When we finished our coffee, we let them know we were ready for Dr. Fish. As you can see from the photo above, Rocketman had forgotten what it feels like to have fish nibbling on your toes.
They had two tanks like the last time we were there except the fish in one tank were huge compared to the guppy-sized fish we were used to. They were about three to four inches long and a good inch wide. We were afraid to stick our feet in that tank.
We were also surprised to see that there weren't many fish in the tank like in years past. But the visitors had a blast and got something to tell the folks back home.
This was new at Dr. Fish too. They gave us these instructions in English.
I had also heard about the beautiful paper lanterns at a Buddhist Temple called Jogyeasa. It is Seoul's largest Buddhist Temple and located a short walk from Insadong. I was shocked at all the paper lanterns and we heard that it is beautiful at night. The temple was constructed in 1910 during Japanese occupation and is the only temple within the Chosun Dynasty's four gates of historic Seoul.
I took a lot of photos.
The Chinese Scholar Tree in the middle of all these laaterns.
This picture was shot looking into the temple. There were many people praying and also sitting off to the sides in groups.
The street in front of the temple has lots of shops selling all kinds of Buddhist things.
As we were heading back to the subway, we saw a crowd and had to check it out to see what everyone was looking at. There was a guy making these bugs.
The little girl was so cute and fascinated with what he was doing.
Isn't she a cutie patoodie?
I did buy this lotus latern for only 7000 WON ($6.47 USD). I also bought some Buddhist bracelets which I posted with Rocketman's pictures. It was a great day and I think the visitors had a great time too.
