Maedeup Bracelets

This week I finished some maedeup bracelets and added them to my Etsy shop. It was the first time I had an opportunity to do maedeup since returning to the States. It felt so good to have the cording wrapping around my fingers as I completed these bracelets. It is so relaxing and fun.

I had an interesting story from a visit to my local Hyundai parts shop. We had recently bought a used Hyundai Sonata but it can with no floor mats so I went to buy a set. The parts clerk was very friendly and asked how we came to buy a Hyundai and I told him of returning from two years in South Korea. He was surprised and had a lot of questions for me.

It turned out the mats were not in stock and had to be ordered. It wasn't an emergency so I was fine with ordering them. I also remembered that we had only received one key with the car so I asked him to make me a duplicate. He came back after a few minutes and said it was free because he felt bad that he didn't have the floor mats in stock. Wow! What a nice thing to do.

  1. Can you recommend the best website or book to purchase to learn many types of Maedeup? Thank you!

  2. Hi Becky,
A couple of questions...where do you get your findings? The bracelets look great, and I like the way they are adjustable.
I struggled for many hours with saenjok last night, and it was my second sitting. I saw your youtube (thank you!) But sometimes, fingers came in front of the maedeup just at the most difficult part... is there any help you can give us for this know? It's a very crucial knot, and I know others have had challenges with it too! I followed your book carefully, but I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong... Diagrams would help. The first few steps are easy. Or a youtube video that goes much slower and shows more from an angle where fingers don't get in the way. I have learned nalgae and the yeonbong and dorae...though with two colors in dorae, I cannot get the x's to come out in the same direction, since the colored x's seem to alternate.
Thanks for you help. I am LOVING learning Maedeup!

  3. Hi SAm: I'm sorry to hear you are have trouble. Here is another video I found that may help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNl_aj92P6s

Also, I would pause the video many times and replay sections. Have you tried that?

The findings for these bracelets were bought in South Korea but I also buy findings from Rings N Things back in the States. Good luck!
