Chilbo (Korean Enameling)

This is what I worked on in chilbo this week.  It's a Korean plant and I need to have Nan write it down because I always forget even though she has me repeat it a few times.  It needed firing and so I left it there for next week.
Wood guy framed these pieces for me.  He even showed up this week to give me a hard time again.  That's when I kept telling him goodbye in Korean.  He and Nan thought it was hilarious.
 Here's a closeup.
Nan took this picture of me working last week.  I never know what she is going to snap a shot but I try to make sure my reading glasses are off.
This is from last week's chicken night.  The guy on the left is Nan's boyfriend and the girl has a craft shop on the same street as Nan.
I've met her a few times and she is really nice.  She also knows quite a bit of English.
This was the leftovers.  It was really good although I don't normally eat chicken at 8 or 9 at night but in Korea I will make the exception.

Tomorrow, Rocketman and I are going on a trip to Gwangju to see a Korean co-worker that he used to work with.  JG gave me a hard time when I first came here but now we are the best of friends.  We're going to visit his city.  What better way to sightsee than with a native.  We are taking the train and it should take about 2 1/2 hours to get there.  We are so excited.

  1. Looks like a lotus pod.

Gwangju was the first place I lived in Korea! There are some gorgeous chunky mountains on the way.
